Extends food palliatives support for Ikeja LGA Baales in Council and Traditional title chief holders in ikeja community at zero cost.
Towards reducing the impact of the country’s economic crisis, ikeja local government under Engr. Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun led local council Administration rolls out fresh sales of raw food stuff at huge subsidized amount for indigenes, residents, and local of ikeja community.
Varieties of raw food items in quantities available for sale sold for 50% amount off market prices. This is an effort to improve the purchasing power of low income households and residents of ikeja community.
Addressing newsmen, the council Chairman said the essence of the exercise is to compliments the efforts of the Federal and State Government at the local level.
At this point in time, it is imperative to cater for welfare of our people within the community.Considering the rate of increase in price of commodities and food items in most of our major commodity markets, we decided to embark on subsidized sales of food stuff so as to reduce the economic burden on our people in this present economic situation facing Nigeria. Engr. Dr. Mojeed Balogun posited
The Council Chairman had earlier made provisions for food parlliative for the Baales in the Council as well as traditional title chief holders of ikeja local government area by virtue of their societal role as custodian of customs, cultures and traditional values in the community.
By so doing, this will go a long way in ensuring this socio-economic palliative program benefits targeted groups within the community.
Engr. Mojeed also noted the Presidency as led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is creating and implementing policies which will bring an end to current economic situation that is facing the Nigerians. This is evident in consistent reduction in US Dollar exchange rate to Naira currency as the latter keeps appreciating in value almost on a daily basis.
